I have always loved making things. I have been making art in one form or another for over 30 years — painting, drawing, printmaking. The everyday things in life continue to inspire me. A dog I love, a path I walk on, or a lovely glass vase with flowers from the garden are all part of that life.
In landscape painting I am looking for a way to convey the air, the light, and the scene in a pleasing and accurate way, the essence of a place. I am drawn to places near the water, rolling hills, the greens and golds of the land. I particularly love old barns, funky houses, and pastures of grazing farm animals.
I strive to create scenes that are of interest using light, structure and color. Strong and clear contrast, sometimes soft and quiet. I want my viewers to see and feel a quiet calm, a glimmer of recognition or maybe even deja vu. I especially enjoy when my work makes someone smile.
